all about MM3D

The idea of Meteor Mess 3D was born somewhere in 2008, when Sascha and Thomas decided to build an adventure using the 3D engine GameStudio A7. They wanted to set up a SCUMM-like adventure system on GS and with that their own first adventure game.

As they are both big fans of Maniac Mansion, a remake of the classic was the perfect way to build G.A.S. (Gamestudio Adventure System) under real conditions. MM3D began on July 26th, 2008, and over the next 12 months Sascha and Thomas spent a lot of their spare time with G.A.S. Sascha was responsible for the coding, while Thomas did all the modeling. Although there were quite a few months where neither of them found any time to work on the project, they made steady progress.

In the middle of 2009, Heiko joined the team to help Sascha with the coding. At this point about 75% of the story was playable, but there were still quite lot of bugs and missing features. Now armed with two coders, the game's progress went faster and smoother.

Around October 2009 Ronnie joined the team as voice director for all of the voice recordings. At the end of the year, the team decided to go in for the AUM retro contest, which meant that a demo of MM3D needed to be ready by February 2010...so all worked hard, and they managed to finish the demo in time.

Meanwhile, the team grew with additional members: Jason (English translations and in-game text), Robin as beta tester, and DJ Mitch and Amok who contributed some remixes of the original music.

On February 17th 2010 we got the great news: Meteor Mess 3D was voted on first place ... yeah ... we've won the retro contest. #1 price: GameStudio A7 professional.

In March Matt joined the team taking over all character modeling and animations. Nearly all characters will be replaced with new ones.
